Welcome to Fifty Plus Forum
Here at Fifty Plus Forum, the free forum for the over 50's, we aim to provide the Over Fifties community with a nice place to meet and chat together with help and advice. Our forum is completely FREE and secure, so you can join like minded people in a fun and safe environment, to share your thoughts, discuss any topic and enjoy good company. We have been in operation for nearly three years now and have a growing membership. We pride ourselves on our Freedom of Speech policy so you can post about anything you like so long as it's not offensive.

So come on in and meet the folks like you. We have a fluctuating but very stable membership and unlike other forums and social networks, if you decide to leave us, we don't hang on to your personal details, we take personal security very seriously.

Simple operation
The forum is very easy to navigate and use. We have 50+ topic categories to post in from Health and Well being through Fun, Chat, Debate and Computer problems including all manner of help topics such as DIY. We also have regular prize winning competitions and lots of members who are happy to help with all manner of problems in and around the home, you can post a question and it will usually be answered very quickly.

Here are some of our features:
  • Integrated Gallery - Show off your photos
  • Personal Blog Area - Write about your experiences
  • Fully integrated Tag System - Tag and find topics easily
  • Competitions - We have regular competitions with some super prizes on offer.
  • A completely private messaging system - unlike e-mail, you can send and receive safe and secure
messages to/from fellow members - no spam - no viruses.
  • Multiple discussion areas for Chatty, Serious and Debatable subjects.
Membership Meetings and Outings
We have enjoyed a great start to our forum meets and have had loads of forum meets so far and several mini-meets. These are organised meetings where members can come together and enjoy a real life chat amongst friends over a drink and a meal. See a recent public blog entry below.

Privacy
Fifty Plus Forum is an entirely private forum for the over Fifties. None of our forum posting boards are visible to non-members or search engines, so anything posted here is kept within the forum membership.

We value our members privacy more than many other Social Networking forums and as such no information about our membership is used for any advertising or product promotions. We do not sell e-mail addresses and no posts are visible to the general public. We do encourage forum sponsorship and our members have benefited from several major company sponsors over the years.

We welcome Guests to the forum but of course all you can see is this page and the articles.

Joining the Forum
To join the forum, click HERE or the REGISTER button above, fill in your details, include a valid e-mail and a note about how you found us. We'll then verify your details with you. * What's happening on the forum...

Wow, has it been over a month since the last update? Well Christmas has come and gone, we had five lucky winners of a 2GB USB Pen drive stocking filler prize in out Advent Calendar draw. We've had new members join our little band, joining in the fun.

One member has just been voted Poster of the Year for all their input into the forum. Voted the winner by the members, well done to PA :)

-- + --

We've just produced our Advent Calendar for 2011 - Members only, sorry - and this year members can choose a door to put their name on. On Christmas Day a door will be selected at random and the member(s) who have selected that door will win a surprise stocking filler gift.

Our Short Story competition winner has been announced and has received his prize a 500GB USB Hard Disk drive. Well done Paul.

-- + --

We've started a Poll to see who you think will win "Strictly Come Dancing 2011". Check out the poll results so far (top right) and add your comments (Guests too).

-- + --

The Short story competition is now closed. Judging is taking place and the winners will be announced soon.

-- + --

Our third Short Story competition is well under way now with some wonderfully evocative stories about "My Favourite Place". A portable USB Hard Disk Drive as the first prize and the competition runs until the end of September. So for a chance to win, join us now.

-- + --

Our new "Members Map" facility has been a great hit. Members place a pin to mark their location on a Google based map and it's proved very useful to members finding their neighbours and arranging meets.

-- + --

Amazingly for such a small forum, we've had over 273,000 posts so far on nearly 9,000 topics. What's more we've had 79 new member this year, more than some other forums have total members.

-- + --

It's been said that people like to see what's in a forum before they join. Other forums that are open to the public (and search engines) offer this facility but we don't. What goes on in this forum stays in this forum, sorry, that's just the way it is.

The 5th meeting – Burton upon Trent 11th/13th March 2011

Time passes...it was time to start considering the next meet – our fifth! Goodness me, how time flies..

There had been an 'executive decision' taken this time to do things a little differently which would hopefully stave off the worst of the aggro that had dogged the arrangements/administration of the previous ones. Whereas with the others we had put up poll after poll to gather ideas and preferences for locati...

xxGoing digital

One of the things we do in addition to providing a forum for social interaction is to try to help our members with any problems they may have. One of our members raised a question about recording from a TV with inbuilt DVD player to a DVD/VHS recorder and the topic got round to upgrading to digital. As part of the thread I posted the following which may help non-members too. If you wish to follow the entire thread and/or ask questions of your own, please do join us by registering as a  forum mem...

Hey...YOU THERE!

Yes YOU!. Trying to look all nonchalant, like you're not really interested in this forum, what it is, what it contains, what it's all about, what you can see/do/read/join in with/reply to/contribute/feel part of/belong to/have fun with.......I can see you peeking...

How did you find us? Are all your friends already members here? Have they told you what a great place it is and you just felt like having a sneaky peek for yourself? Hmmm – did yo...
